Ingredients Needed For Classic Cheese Potatoes:
- 24-26 ounce bag frozen hash browns
- 1/3 cup onion, grated
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 10.5 ounce cans cream of chicken soup
- 2 cups sour cream
- 1 1/2-2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
Instructions For Classic Cheese Potatoes:
- Pre-heat oven to 350°
- Place frozen hash browns into a 9×13 baking dish and set aside.
- In a large sauce pan, add butter, grated onion, condensed soup and sour cream. Stir over medium heat until the butter has melted.
- Add 1 1/2 cups of grated cheese and stir to melt.
- Pour this mixture over the frozen hash browns and stir with a fork to combine.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45-50 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and remove the foil.
- Optional, but good: Sprinkle 1/2 cup grated cheese or more over the top. Place back in the oven under the broiler to toast up the grated cheese-watch closely! Serve and enjoy!
- Another option instead of the browned cheese on top: Mix 2 tablespoons of melted butter with 2 cups crushed corn flakes. Place on top of cheese potatoes and bake uncovered.
