Homemade Vanilla takes awhile to make-not really the making part but the waiting part. Put two ingredients together in a Mason Jar and wait.
You will have to shake the jar a few times a week for awhile then, just once in awhile. The longer you let the vanilla beans soak, the stronger the vanilla will be.

Ingredient and Supplies You Will Need For Homemade Vanilla:
- 1.75 liters vodka, cheap is fine
- 10 Madagascar Vanilla Beans, or more
- 4 pint Mason jars with lids and rings
- waxed paper
How To Make Homemade Vanilla:
- Place vanilla beans on a cutting board. Slice the vanilla beans lengthwise. Cut through one side leaving the bean open, not sliced into two pieces. Now cut all 10 vanilla beans in half across the middle. You should have 20 pieces.
- Place 2 1/2 pieces of vanilla beans in the bottom of each clean and dry Mason jar.
- Pour the vodka over the top of the vanilla beans-leaving an inch at the top.
- Place a piece of waxed paper over the top of each jar and place the lid on top of the waxed paper. Now Twist the ring onto the bottle tightly.
- Turn the bottles back and forth the mix.
- You will need to store these jars in a cool, dark place for about 8 months or longer to get the flavor you want.
- For the first two weeks, try to turn the jar back and forth to mix the liquid, every day.
- After that, mix the liquid once a week or more as desired.
- *Note: if you want stronger vanilla quicker, you can place the 10 vanilla beans in two pint jars. You will end up with half the vanilla, but it will not take as long.
