Ingredients Needed For Italian Sub Sandwich:
Dressing Ingredients:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp dried parsley
- 1/4 tsp dried thyme
- 2 large cloves garlic minced
- 1/3 cup parmesan cheese-Kraft
Sandwich Ingredients:
- 1 loaf French bread
- deli turkey slices
- deli ham slices
- pepperoni slices
- salami slices
- cheese slices Swiss, cheddar or provolone
- tomatoes, sliced thin
- banana pepper slices
- red onion, sliced thin
- iceberg lettuce, sliced thin and chopped
How To Make Italian Sub Sandwich:
Dressing Instructions:
- Place all ingredients into a bowl and whisk well to combine. Refrigerate while you make the sandwich.
Sandwich Instructions:
- Cut French bread in half lengthwise to form sub sandwich. Place both sides on a large baking sheet, cut sides up.
- Completely cover both sides of the cut French bread with cheese slices.
- Place in the oven on the middle rack and broil on low until cheese melts and bread is a little toasty.
- Remove from the oven and top with layer of turkey, ham, pepperoni and salami.
- Top with tomato slices, onion slices and banana peppers.
- Remove dressing from the refrigerator and mix with the shredded lettuce. Place lettuce on top of the sandwich and put the top of the French bread on top.
- Slice and enjoy!
Cook’s Note:
If making this for two: use half of the French bread and only mix the lettuce you will use with the dressing-save the remaining dressing in the refrigerator with the other ingredients to make again, for dinner the next day.
Another option, I have made the whole sandwich and we ate all but one slice. I wrapped and refrigerated the leftover slice. The next day, I ate it for lunch and it was still yummy. The bread was not soggy from the dressing due to covering all of the cut surfaces with cheese.
