My family had been asking for chocolate chip cookies for weeks-I kept forgetting to make them. While watching a movie with the family, one of them said, “are we ever getting chocolate chip cookies”? Made them right then. They were so warm and gooey! A perfect treat to eat while watching a great movie. Don’t forget the milk. Milk and chocolate chip cookies just go together!
We love milk chocolate chips. We love semi-sweet, too. Also, we love dark chocolate chips and white chocolate chips-so all chocolate chips! In this recipe, I love the milk chocolate. They add the perfect chocolate flavor.
Ingredients Needed for Chocolate Chip Cookies:
- 1 cup butter melted but not hot
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 ½ cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp hot water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 ½ cups milk chocolate chips extra for the tops
Instructions:
- Melt butter slowly in the microwave. Stir. Do not let the butter get hot.
- In a mixing bowl with an electric mixer, combine melted butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Add eggs and vanilla. Combine well.
- Dissolve baking soda in hot water.
- Add salt, dissolved baking soda, and flour one cup at a time to the butter and sugar mixture. Combine well.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Roll cookie dough into balls or use a cookie scoop. (makes about 20 cookies-depends on size)
- I like to break each cookie dough ball in half. Press it back together with the broken sides now being the top. Press a few extra chocolate chips into the top of each cookie before baking.
- Place cookie dough balls on a parchment covered cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350° for 10 minutes (if you are making small cookies, reduce baking time-remove when cookies begin to turn light brown. Cool on the baking sheet for 1-2 minutes and then move cookies to a cooling rack. Do not over bake.
- Enjoy! Store in an airtight container when cooled. Definitely enjoy some when they are warm.
Cooks Note:
When measuring flour, I like to fluff the flour with my measuring cup, then scoop the flour into the measuring cup and level it off with the straight edge of a butter knife. (sometimes I am too lazy to scoop the flour into a cup with a spoon)
