Ingredients Needed For Brownie Bottom Satin Pie Dessert:
1- 18.4 ounce box brownie mix-can use two brownie box mixes if you like more brownie on the bottom-see variations below
2- 3.4 ounce boxes cook and serve vanilla pudding
2- 3.4 ounce boxes cook and serve chocolate pudding
4 cups milk
4 cups cream
Whipping cream-Reddi Whip or large Cool Whip
Chocolate bar, for chocolate curls to decorate, if desired
I use a peeler to make my chocolate curls. Just run the peeler along the side of a chocolate candy bar.
How to Make Brownie Bottom Satin Pie:
Mix and bake brownie mix according to package directions in a 9×13 baking dish. If using two brownie mixes, make sure it is not doughy in the center-bake at 325 degrees for about 50 minutes. Let it cool. Refrigerate.
Make vanilla pudding as directed on the package however, use 2 cups milk and 2 cups cream.
Let pudding cool but not so cool it sets. Stir to smooth. Then, spread vanilla pudding on top of the cooled brownie. Refrigerate.
Now, make the chocolate pudding with remaining 2 cups milk and 2 cups cream. Let cool a bit and stir to smooth. Spread chocolate pudding on top of vanilla pudding and refrigerate to set and chill.
Decorate with Reddi Wip whipping cream or cover with Cool Whip. Top with chocolate curls when ready to serve. (I use a vegetable peeler on the side of the Hersey’s chocolate bar to make chocolate curls).
Cook’s Note-Variations:
You can also make this recipe in a 9×9 baking dish-still use one brownie mix and cut the puddings, milk and cream in half. So…one brownie mix-plus ingredients for brownie mix, one box vanilla cook and serve pudding, one box chocolate cook and serve pudding, two cups milk and two cups cream and a small Cool Whip instead of a large Cool Whip. A 9 x 13 is a lot of dessert for some families, just cut it in half-easy! I don’t want to mess with cutting a brownie mix in half-extra brownie on the bottom is yummy.
I have also used 2 brownie mixes in a 9×13 baking dish. I like the extra amount of brownie this adds. Just make two brownie mixes according to the package for both mixes. Then, bake it at 325 degrees for about 50 minutes. Still use the two boxes each of vanilla and chocolate cook and serve puddings and the four cups of milk and four cups of cream as the recipe states. I did not cover this in Cool Whip. I used Reddi Wip on individual servings.
