Ingredients Needed For Sweet and Sour Chicken:
- 2 1/2 pounds chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup corn starch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 3 large eggs, beaten
- oil for browning chicken pieces
Sweet and Sour Chicken Sauce:
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp garlic salt
How to Make Sweet and Sour Chicken:
- Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces.
- Place corn starch, salt and pepper into a bowl or on a shallow plate. Mix.
- Crack eggs into another bowl and whisk.
- Coat some of the chicken pieces in the corn starch mixture and then, dip each piece in the egg.
- Heat oil in a frying pan. when oil is hot, fry the coated chicken pieces-brown on each side. Do not cook all the way through-just brown the sides in hot oil.
- Place the browned chicken pieces on a greased baking sheet (with sides).
- Then, repeat by dipping the remaining chicken pieces into the corn starch mixture and egg. Brown and place on the baking sheet.
- When all of the chicken has been browned and is on the baking sheet, pour the sweet and sour sauce over the top of the chicken.
- Bake in a 325° pre-heated oven for one hour. Turn the chicken pieces every 15 minutes for best results.

Cook’s Tip: brown the chicken in hot oil-don’t let the chicken sit in a pan of oil that is heating up. Use enough oil to coat the bottom of the frying pan.
