This cream cheese apple coffee cake is delicious! It is also really good as a warm dessert with vanilla ice cream.
2 tubes refrigerator crescent rolls
8 ounce cream cheese, softened
1 egg
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 21 ounce can apple pie filling
Glaze:
1/4 cup half and half
1 cup powdered sugar
Directions:
1. Mix cream cheese, egg, and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until smooth.
2. Pour all of the apple pie filling into a bowl and smash the apples with a potato masher.
3. Press 9 crescent roll triangles on a pizza stone or pan. Press all seams together. Leave a little edge of the pan showing.
4. Spread the cream cheese mixture on the crescent dough. Top with the apples.
5. With the remaining 7 crescent roll triangles, press seams together and use an apple cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Arrange the cut-outs on top of the apples.
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Crust should be golden brown.
7. Mix glaze together and drizzle over the top.
Serve warm for breakfast or for dessert, add a couple scoops of ice cream.
