This is a great recipe not only because it is delicious, but, it is easy to make. Creamy pasta sauces are something we can eat all of the time-great comfort food.
Ingredients Needed for Chicken Bacon Asparagus Carbonara:
Dish Ingredients:
1/2 pound asparagus
4 chicken patties (I used the ones from Costco. Breaded chicken tenders will work as well.)
1/2 cup onion
10 oz. pasta
1/2 cup bacon crumbles
3 1/2 cups alfredo sauce (see recipe below)
2 tablespoons butter
Alfredo Sauce Ingredients:
2 cups grated parmesan cheese
2 cups half and half
1 1/4 cups milk
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Instructions for Chicken Bacon Asparagus Carbonara Recipe:
Cook the breaded chicken in the oven according to the package instructions.
Cook the pasta according to the package instructions.
While the breaded chicken and the pasta cook, melt butter on medium heat in a skillet. Add asparagus. Sautè until tender.
Meanwhile, in a sauce pan over medium to medium high heat, cook the diced onion in the four tablespoons of butter.
When onion is tender, add the flour and stir to combine.
Next, add the half and half, milk, minced garlic, grated parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper to the onion mixture.
Bring the Alfredo sauce to a boil stirring constantly with a wire whisk.
Continue cooking the sauce until it has thickened. Then, add the bacon crumbles and stir to combine.
Pour the thickened sauce over the cooked and drained pasta and stir to coat.
Serve pasta on a plate and top the pasta with the cooked asparagus and the breaded chicken.

Ingredients
- 1/2 pound asparagus
- 4 chicken patties or 8 breaded chicken tenders
- 1/2 cup onion diced
- 10 ounces pasta
- 1/2 cup bacon crumbles
- 3 ½ cups alfredo sauce see below
- 2 tbsps butter
Alfredo Sauce:
- 2 cups grated parmesan cheese
- 2 cups half and half
- 1 ¼ cups milk
- 4 tbsps butter
- 4 tbsps flour
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper

Cook chicken patties or tenders in the oven according to package directions.

While the chicken and pasta cook, sautè asparagus in two tablespoons of butter until tender crisp (in a skillet).

Make the alfredo: Sautè onion in four tablespoons of butter in a sauce pan.

When the onion is tender, add the flour and mix to combine.

Add the half and half, milk, garlic, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.

Bring sauce to a boil, stirring continually with a whisk. Simmer to thicken.

When sauce has thickened, add bacon crumbles and stir to combine.

Pour sauce over cooked and drained pasta.
