Ingredients Needed for Graham Cracker Pie Crust:
Graham cracker crumbs
Sugar
Butter, melted
Instructions for Graham Cracker Pie Crust:
1. Crush graham crackers in a blender or food processor. I use a Ninja Blender which I love. I place the crackers in the single serve container and blend. The graham cracker crumbs turn out so fine. I place a third to a half of the cracker into the blender cup and blend until I have fine crumbs. Then, add to a mixing bowl and repeat with the remaining graham crackers.
2. Mix the graham cracker crumbs and the sugar in the mixing bowl the graham crackers are in.
3. Then, melt the butter in a microwave safe bowl. Add the melted butter to the graham cracker mixture. Mix well.
4. Press graham cracker mixture in desired pan (pie pan, 9 X 9 baking dish, springformpnn or something similar-If you need a bigger pie, double this recipe).
5. There are two options for your graham cracker pie crust-place crust in the refrigerator to set up for about 30 minutes or bake the crust for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Crust should be lightly browned.
6. After crust has set up in the refrigerator, add your desired pie filling. No bake cheesecake or ice cream pies are always great with graham cracker pie crust.
7. If you baked your graham cracker pie crust, allow it time to cool, then add desired ingredients. If you are using this crust for a baked cheesecake, bake it in a springform pan (I like to place a circular piece of parchment paper in the bottom of the springform pan before pressing graham cracker mixture inside it) allow the crust time to cool while you make the cheesecake filling. Fill the springform pan with the prepared cheesecake filling and bake as directed by the recipe you are following.
Note:
For baked cheesecake-I recently and finally tried to bake a cheesecake in a water bath. I was worried about trying this method but, I didn’t need to worry! The cheesecake came out beautifully with no cracks in the top. I used two big pieces of heavy duty aluminum foil to wrap the bottom and sides of a springform pan in-leaving foil sticking up around the top of the pan (two layers of foil). Then, set it in the boiling water I had just poured into my roasting pan and baked it in a 350 degree oven for 60 minutes. Then, turned off the oven, cracked the door of the oven and let the cheesecake sit in the water bath in the oven for another hour.
