It’s always fun to make and to take a delicious dish to a party or any get-together. This will be one of those appetizers or snacks people will ask for the recipe. They do not take much time to make or many ingredients. Just make sure to take your cream cheese out of the refrigerator early enough for it to soften. You will want it to be very soft. Cream cheese blends with other ingredients so much better at room temperature. I have often become impatient with waiting for the cream cheese to soften. I have set it on a warm oven. Placed it in the microwave-without the foil wrapper, placed it in front of a heating vent. I am always more happy with the cream cheese if I just remember to get it out early.
Helpful Tips:
This recipe calls for one half pound of sausage. Costco sells Jimmy Dean ground sausage in a three pound tube. This works so well for us. There are even lines on the package for you to separate the meat into pounds. We separate ours (and package it in Ziploc freezer bags) into two-one pound pieces and two-half pound pieces. We freeze what we are not going to use in the next week or so and it is frozen and ready to use in the recipes we love. Our Sausage Gravy recipe is delicious and uses one pound of sausage. Sausage Stuffed Peppers is another good recipe that calls for just one half pound of ground sausage.
